OCM Handset Control features

(Applies from PABX version 4.0.10 onwards)

This is supplemental information about OCM enhancements. Note that the more modern keevio component uses a more flexible mechanism, so auto-answer and auto-hold is more likely to function across all handsets. pause/play functions the same as it always has, and relies on handset support.

Auto Answer

This is a menu option on OCM, and will attempt to cause OCM dialled calls to be auto-answered hands-free on your handset so that the onward call can proceed immediately.

Supported by:

  • Cisco/Linksys
  • snom
  • Polycom
  • Yealink
  • Aastra

Exceptions:

  • Yealink - Only one auto-answered call is possible at a time. Placing a second call before the first is completed will cause the 2nd call to be rejected.
  • Polycom - As per Yealink, but if the call is made to a spare line, it is allowed to ring.

Auto Hold

This is a menu option on OCM, and will allow the PABX to attempt to put more than one call onto a phone line. If this feature is off, and a call already exists on a line, attempts to use that line will always fail.

Supported by:

  • Cisco/Linksys
  • snom
  • Yealink
  • Aastra

Exceptions:

  • Yealink - Only one auto-answered call is possible at a time. Placing a second call before the first is completed will cause the 2nd call to be rejected.
  • Polycom - Ignores this setting.

Pause/Play (Hold)

Allows a call to be placed on hold or retrieved using OCM.

Supported by:

  • Polycom
  • snom
  • Yealink

Exceptions:

  • Aastra - There is an incompatibility with the Aastra SIP stack and this feature, which may cause instability in the handset if used.
